About
Dmitry Kavka is an artist and graphic designer, born in 1974. The artist creates projects at the intersection of digital and material realities.
By combining a range of expressive media and mediums, the artist explores the paradoxes of a new sensibility, social shifts and transformations of images in the digital environment. His practice includes digital sculptures, video works, static computer games, and graphics . Kavka frequently experiments with new forms of artistic presentation in virtual environments.
Notably, in 2013, Kavka created an online video game where he places his digital sculptures. In 2017, he presented an exhibition of drawings integrated with Google Maps using Street View technology — this project was shown in Venice during the 57th Biennale of Contemporary Art.
The artist graduated from the Higher Academic School of Graphic Design and has worked with digital art projects since 2010. Over the years, Dmitry has participated in several dozen group exhibitions and held around 10 solo projects and personal exhibitions. He has also studied at the British Higher School of Art and Design, Ahn Sang-Soo's workshop, the Moscow School of New Cinema, and the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art (MMOMA).
