About

Born in 1996 in Arsenyev, Primorsky Krai. Vitaly began his career as a photojournalist, and in 2014 he moved to St. Petersburg, where he single-handedly wrote and published a magazine about people of art, The Strangers. In 2019 he made a number of documentaries, which in 2020 took part in the world's leading documentary film festivals. He participated in one of the main programs of the IDFA documentary film festival, in the main competition of the ARTDOCFEST festival, and together with Igor Mukhin took part in the 2nd Triennial of Contemporary Art at the Garage Museum. Now lives and works in Moscow. Vitaly defines his method of work as archiving. Using various media (video, photography, installation, text), he captures fragments of time, emotions and thoughts of people and compiles them into one big archive. It now contains prints from Russia, Japan, Nepal, Africa and Egypt. For him, a documentary component in his work is crucial, so that in each project there is a real story, real emotions and real facts about a person who is in the frame.
